One of my former students sent me this article from insidehigered.com. While the results of the study described are not too surprising, I must say that I really enjoyed the posted comments. They were, for the most part, thoughtful, and they covered a healthy mix of viewpoints.

I personally think that the SAT should stay. Should it not exist, probably less international students would get into America’s top schools.
Grades in Romania differ from those in the US and as commented under the article, it’s true that there may also be students from substandard school with boosted grades.
Do you think the SAT should go, Karl?

Sorin,
I agree that it should stay. The SAT allows not only international students, but also American students who may have gotten some poor high school grades (for whatever reason) to show that they are ready to meet the academic challenges of college.
