The Wrong Kind of Recycling: SAT Tests

News   SAT
Eric Barnes - Feb 1, 2007

eprep test prep video Word is spreading about the little-known practice of the College Board to recycle complete SAT tests. The SAT exam administered worldwide on Saturday was identical to the one given in December 2005 in the United States. Apparently, SAT tests administered in 2004 and 2005 were completely recycled from prior years. This raises all sorts of issues as it opens the window for students sharing old tests online.

Between five and ten years ago (I honestly cannot remember exactly when it was), a student of mine ordered the test booklet from the SAT he had most recently taken. Upon receiving the booklet in the mail, he asked me to go over it with him. When I opened the booklet, I was shocked. I recognized the test. I had a copy of it in the back of my car from an old practice SAT book. This is a true story; I kid you not. –Karl

[…] Just a quick mention to get out this scary / funny word out: Our friends at ePrep wrote way back in February that SAT tests were being recycled, and no, I don’t mean the paper. FairTest Examiner wrote in April about the same issue: […]
