Thanks for the note, Mindi. I agree with your comment regarding the grammar on several of the pages on our website. Please let me explain. What you are reading are likely transcripts of videos. When I speak extemporaneously, like most people, I tend to change directions and "run on" at times. I'm sure if you reviewed a transcript of your own speaking, you would find it to be less than perfect.

The transcripts were never meant to be read by visitors. They were transcribed and included on the site for one reason only: search engine optimization. Current search engines cannot search videos for key words or phrases. They can only search text. (I had an intern last summer who cleaned up some of the transcripts, but to be honest, the intern's time was better spend doing other things.)

Thanks for your kind words about my strategies. They were not intended to be novel, just helpful to students who do not have access to sound advice and guidance. (Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that English is not my first language and that I am constantly trying to improve. Comments like yours remind me that, while I think my English is better than most native speakers, I certainly still have room for improvement. The SAT writing section has helped me tremendously.)

Hope to hear from you again soon.

Karl - I am an English teacher who teaches an SAT prep course.
Thank you for your website. I have copied several of your
pages to use with my students. Their job is to read
through your words and correct the myriad errors. On my
first go round, I found 3 run on sentences, 2 comma splices,
your instead of you're, split infinitives, et al. While
your strategies are sound, though certainly not novel,
I am appalled at your atrocious grammar. Hopefully, your
"students" will not follow your lead. MizLo
